Nominations for the Association Steering & Strategy Group (Council)

The SCBA Steering & Strategy Group (SSG) is the Council of the Association and meets around six times a year.  Members are Directors of the company and Trustees of the charity.  The group is made up of twelve elected members, as well as those who are either co-opted or ex-officio.  Those elected are normally appointed to serve for three years (except where filling a vacancy left by a member not completing their full term) and can be re-elected for a second-term of three years.

Members of the SSG will be asked to serve on other committees of our Association which cover strategic issues of concern, as listed below.   It is hoped that those seeking election may have anTrustees interest and/or experience in one or more of these:
  • Communications
  • Pioneering
  • Home Mission
  • Mission Development
  • Justice
  • Children, Youth & Families
  • Leadership
  • Safeguarding
  • Staff, Finance & Administration including: staffing/human resources; finance; and charity/company governance
Lockdown has highlighted how communication, training and connecting with one another more deeply and widely can be enabled through a range of online options alongside face-to-face meetings.  Nomination of a trustee with specialist knowledge of digital communications would be very helpful.

Want to find out more?  Then please watch: We are SCBA!

We would like to invite nominations from member churches for the elected positions on the Steering and Strategy Group of the Southern Counties Baptist Association.  Your church's nomination(s) should be signed but the Church Secretary, or another person duly authorised, and also by the nominee.  Each church must determine for itself at what level this decision should be made and whether the nominations require the backing of the church members of simply the support of the deacons and/or elders.

The full names and addresses of all nominees should be included on the nomination form along with a short profile of up to 100 words.  The nomination form can be downloaded here and all completed forms must reach the SCBA office at Baptist House by 12 noon on Monday 25th October 2021.

Please consider carefully whether there is someone in your church who may be suitable and willing to serve as a trustee in our Association.
