SCBA Ministers' & Leaders' Conference
Monday 2nd - Wednesday 4th February 2026
"Hearing God Through Us: Church, Community & the Art of Discernment"
Speakers
We are delighted that Revd Ruth Moriarty and Rev Steve Tinning will be joining us as our keynote speakers.
Revd Ruth Moriarty
Ruth Moriarty has been a Baptist minister for 18 years, serving in Woolwich (South London), Poynton (Cheshire) and now at Christ Church New Southgate & Friern Barnet, London (URC/Baptist). She has a practical theology doctorate (University of Chester) on Baptist discernment and the church meeting. She is a Research Associate at Regent's Park College, Oxford. In her spare time, you'll find her chatting about a good read in her book group or cooking something yummy in the kitchen.
Revd Steve Tinning
Steve is the Baptist Union’s Public Issues Enabler, which, in part, involves serving the Baptist family nationally through his work with the Joint Public Issues Team. He helps churches and leaders navigate the places where faith meets public life, seeking ways to respond with both courage and compassion. At heart, Steve is an activist – though one whose toolkit is filled with practical theology, community organising theory, and the occasional strong cup of tea. He believes the Spirit speaks in many places – from local church meetings to national debates – and delights in helping Baptists listen well together.
