Doing Church Differently

Doing Church Differently is a series designed to help you and your church reflect on its mission and ministry through the lens of other churches.  As churches share the journey they are on hopefully there will be something that speaks to your context.

Each Video has accompanying study notes to help you reflect biblically on the themes.  These can be used in small groups or for a church meeting.

Shiloh Community Church

Shiloh Shiloh Community Church in Guernsey has transitioned from a traditional Sunday-focused model to a community-driven mission, offering a food bank, clothing bank, mental health support, and cafés to serve those in need. Led by Christy Salmon, the church has adapted its worship and outreach to break barriers, build relationships, and transform lives through faith and practical support.

Ocean Church Part 2

Ocean Church Pt 1 JPEG This video continues exploring Ocean Church, an innovative outdoor Christian community led by John. It highlights how faith can be deeply connected to nature, particularly the water, where many people already experience peace, awe, and a sense of the divine. John shares how his passion for the sea—whether through surfing, swimming, or kayaking—has shaped this unique form of church, meeting people where they are and helping them recognise God's presence in their experiences. However, pioneering this approach has not been without challenges.
